Hey Graza,
The cd that you have is nice but the best Me'Shell's album for me is "Peace Beyond Passion" (The blue one...) with the great Gene Lake on drums so check it out !!!
Peace.
I just picked up the Meshell cd Plantation and its got some amazing stuff on it. Especially the second track on this cd.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">He is indeed sick, and it thrills me that someone else on here knows of the sickness of Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey (I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with him though). Mark Simmons is nasty also. I've heard him with Diane Reeves, and he's a bad mamma jamma fo' sho'.Originally posted by no_bells:
I saw him w/ Kenny Garrett in '98. Dave scared the shit out of everyone that night. He's got some sick up-tempo feels that are just dense w/ all sorts of insanity. Then he can turn around and play the nastiest hip-hop/funk feel this side of Jerome Brailey.
Mark Simmons from Diane Reeves band is another bad cat from that high school in Houston that Mint Condition came out of.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">GREAT album! By far my favorite of Meshell's joints. All of her stuff is great though. Gene Lake is an absolute monster, just tears up the grooves on that disc (and everything else he plays, basically).Originally posted by Rodge:

funkydrummer- yeah, Brailey as well as Frank Waddy can lay it down big time. Whenever I have to play a straight 2 and 4 I think of them, Jeff, Abe Jr, ?uestlove, Chris Dave, Adam Deitch, Harvey Mason, Gadd and Vinnie.
